Ingredients and spices that need to be Take to make Grandpa Ryan's Magic Breadboard Pandesal:

  1. 1 egg (Room Tempiture)
  2. 1/3 cup honey
  3. 1-1/4 cups whole or 2% milk (Room Tempiture)
  4. 3 tbsp. butter (melted to liquid, not hot)
  5. 3 tsp (rapid rise yeast)
  6. 4 cups + 2 tbsp bread flour
  7. 1 tsp salt

  1. In bowl: (using the following four steps makes it a bit easier to mix.)
    • Add 1 egg and beat well.
    • Add 1/3-cup honey and mix well.

    temperature up until slightly warm (105 degrees) to the touch, do not get it hot or the yeast will not work.
  3. Add 3 tsp yeast to breadmaker.
    • Pour liquid measure over yeast and mix.
    • Let mixture sit in breadmaker for 12 minutes.
    • After the 12 minutes, add softened melted butter
  4. While the yeast is activating, measure the dry ingredients.
    4 cups + 2 tbsp bread flour
    1 tsp salt
    • Add flour mixture to breadmaker.
  5. Start dough cycle. When completed put dough on a floured cutting board.
  6. With a digital scale set to metric measurement, cut pieces of dough and make dough balls 40- 44 grams in size. (Size is your preference). Fold the balls over several times (approximately 8-9 folds) and pinch the bottoms to complete each roll.
    Breadcrumbs (Italian style)
    Put about 2 cups of breadcrumbs into a bowl. As you make your rolls, roll the dough in the breadcrumbs.
    Lightly oil a large cookie sheet with spray oil. Line rolls on pan.
  7. When all the rolls are completed, cover with plastic wrap or light towel and let rise for 60 minutes.
    Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. (Suggest you set a timer to insure not overcooking.)
    NOTE: As an alternative to Pandesal style bread, eliminate rolling in breadcrumbs and brush
    with melted butter AFTER baking for soft buttery dinner rolls.
